Recognizing Excellence in School Business Management
Providing Scholarships as Investments in Our Future
Financial Grants to Charitable Organizations Serving Children
The Illinois ASBO Foundation was created to elevate the status of the school business administration profession, enhance the visibility of the “value” a school business manager brings to a school district, provide college scholarships to deserving high school students and provide financial grants to community services, policy and research initiatives and charitable organizations that serve children.
Illinois ASBO invites all members to be generous in their donations, so that:
- High school seniors may receive
financial support of their college expenses
- Charitable organizations that provide programs
and services to children may be given grants of support
- Members may be recognized for their excellent performance
- District office teams may be highlighted for their best practices
in school business management
- Research and policy initiatives in school business
management and school finance may be supported
- Functions related to organizations such
as ASBO International will be supported
- A permanent endowment may grow to guarantee perpetual
financial support of Foundation activities in the future
Improving the profession is defined through the Foundation’s recognition:
1. Draws positive attention to individuals who are at the leading edge of creating current best practices in school business management and to schools/school district business office teams whose innovations clearly add value to the efficient and effective operation of their educational agency;
2. Provides recipients of the Recognition Program with college funds that are awarded to high school seniors of their choice;
3. Scholarships are awarded to students from districts of award recipients;
4. Awards to Foundations or district initiatives of award recipients;
5. Scholarships to students in school business management programs;
6. Charitable donations to organizations supporting research and policy initiatives or charities that benefit children and Illinois ASBO sponsorship of events at other organization conferences; and
7. The Foundation’s disbursements will, in addition to providing scholarships, seek to promote the profession through charitable donations to organizations, research and policy initiatives and charities that benefit children. Contributions to individuals relating to specific tragedies or occurrences will also be given consideration by the Foundation.
Activities supported by voluntary donations from Illinois ASBO members, special fund-raising events, funds appropriated by Illinois ASBO Board of Directors and interest earned from a permanent endowment fund. All donations are tax deductible.

- No more than 20 percent deposited in a permanent endowment fund
