Schools should be designed for students as they offer many wonderful opportunities for students to connect with each other, pursue their interests and participate in a community of their peers. However, when critically analyzing schools, it turns out that there is still some major redesign work needed to make schools more reflective of students’ needs and lives. Recruiting and retaining a diverse staff is
an important strategic step towards creating school environments that are designed for students.
