The Development & Benefit of Certification Programs

The 2016 Lighthouse Award recognized two outstanding facilities managers for their work in the development of Illinois ASBO Facilities Certification programs. These programs help facilities professionals to extend their training and expertise while bringing a recognized credential to their school districts. 

2024 Facility Excellence Leader of the Year

He has 15 years of experience in commercial HVAC, three years as a building engineer at District 87, and has spent the last eight years at CCSD93. He is the current chair of the Illinois ASBO Maintenance & Operations PDC, holds both CPMM and CPS certifications, has completed the Illinois ASBO Facility Management Designation Program and the Facilities Operations Program, and has served on the Illinois ASBO Board of Directors.

He has been working in the school facility management arena for over 12 years and prior to that, has 10 years of experience in the janitorial supply field. He has contributed articles to the Illinois ASBO Facility Magazine and presented at both the Illinois ASBO Annual Conference and the Midwest Facilities Conference. He is currently serving on the Service Associate Advisory Committee.

Dave Schuh, CPMM, CPS, has served in his current role of Director of Operations for Crystal Lake School District 47 since 2005 where he oversees all facets of facility management from capital planning and development to the daily support needs of the district. He has led the Illinois ASBO North Central Illinois Facility Professionals (NCIFP) group since 2011 fostering networking and professional development for his peers. In addition, he is also actively involved with Illinois ASBO as a lead instructor for the Facilities Operations Program courses, which he helped develop and implement. Lastly, he also contributes as an Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE) instructor for the CPMM and CPS courses.
