Life Orientations (LIFO®) Training
LIFO is a full day academy that allows each participant to identify their own behavioral leadership style and then learn to flex or bridge their style to the style of others to improve communication and outcomes.
The LIFO survey has been administered in over 30 countries, was developed by Dr. Stuart Atkins, and is based on the work of Erich Fromm, Carl Rogers, Peter Drucker, and Abraham Maslow. Participants will take an electronic survey in advance of the course and will receive a detailed report explaining their results during the course. The participants examine their results through the LIFO Discovery Workbook and the LIFO Bridging Workbook and work as a group to discern strengths and weaknesses and how to better manage those attributes to communicate with others in both satisfactory and unsatisfactory conditions. Participants will confirm their findings, learn to moderate and extend behaviors for better results, capitalize on behaviors to achieve success, and bridge behaviors across personalities, or learn to flex their communication styles to lead others based on the information they have learned through the survey and facilitated workbook discussions and interactions.
This full-day academy includes:
- Each participant filling out a survey instrument ahead of the event (they receive a full report of their individual results at the event).
- Group interaction over the course of a one-day facilitation by Illinois ASBO.
- A framework for future interaction amongst team members to promote further bonding and growth.
- 6.5 hours of Administrator Academy credit for each participant.
