School Business Management Scholarships

Because of generous donations, numerous scholarships are available to help you advance your career in school business management and further develop your skills. These scholarships are an investment in the future leaders in the school industry. Look below for opportunities to grow in your chosen profession! Applications for 2020 will be accepted through October 15, 2019.

    Illinois ASBO Foundation Scholarships

    Illinois ASBO Foundation School Business Scholarships 

    (3 @ $1,000 each)
    This scholarship was established through donations to the Illinois ASBO Foundation and is meant to foster the careers of new school business officials.

    You can apply if you are:

    • Illinois ASBO Member in good standing.
    • Illinois resident.
    • Demonstrate the ability, background and interest to successfully complete the degree/program.
    • Pursuing a degree at an accredited institution in one of the following:
      • Bachelor’s Degree.
      • Master’s Degree (major emphasis in school business management of educational administration).
      • Enrolled in a Chief School Business Official certification program.

    Regional Organization Scholarships

    Regional Organization School Business Scholarships 

    The Illinois ASBO Regional Organizations that will be providing School Business Management scholarship opportunities are:

    • DuPage Regional Organization Scholarship                                     (2 @ $1,000 each) Must be an active member of this regional to apply.
    • Fox River Valley Regional Organization Scholarship                     (1 @ $1,000) Must be an active member of this regional to apply. 
    • Northeastern Regional Organization Scholarship                          (1 @ $2,000)
    • South Suburban Regional Organization Scholarship                   (2 @ $1,000 each)

    You can apply if you are:

    • An Illinois ASBO member in good standing pursuing a degree at an accredited institution in one of the following:
      • Bachelor’s Degree.
      • Master’s Degree (major emphasis in school business management of educational administration).
      • Enrolled in a CSBO certification program.

    Robert J English Scholarship

    Robert J. English School Business Scholars Award

    (3 @ $2,454 each)
    This award was established to advance the field of school business administration by investing in second year students or expedited CSBO licensure students enrolled in the Illinois ASBO/NIU School Business Management (SBM) Program. Scholarships will be granted in an amount to cover the cost of three - 2 credit hour internships associated with the SBM program.

    You can apply if you are:

    • A student in good standing who has completed at least 12 credit hours of the program.
    • School Business Management Program Accepted into the expedited CSBO licensure program.

    Concordia Doctorate Scholarship

    Concordia University Chicago Doctoral Program Scholarship

    (1 @ $2,073)
    This scholarship is established to advance the field of school business management. Scholarships will be granted in an amount to cover the cost of a three credit hour course associated with the Illinois ASBO/CUC Doctoral Program.

    You can apply if you:

    • Are an active Illinois ASBO Member.
    • Are enrolled in the Illinois ASBO/CUC Doctoral Program.
    • Have successfully completed one semester of the Illinois ASBO/CUC Program.

    Concordia Doctorate Scholarship

    ASBO International Annual Conference & Expo Scholarships


    The Illinois ASBO Regional Organizations that will be providing ASBO International Annual Meeting & Expo scholarship opportunities are:

    • DuPage Regional Organization Scholarship                                            (1 @ $1,000) Must be an active member of this regional to apply.
    • Fox River Valley Regional Organization Scholarship                             (1 @ $1,000) Must be an active member of this regional to apply. 

    In addition, Illinois ASBO Service Associates provide three ASBO International Annual Meeting scholarships to qualifying school district members. Watch for details on how to apply at Illinois ASBO's Annual Conference.
